La copie conforme certifiée permet de confirmer que la copie produite est exactement conforme à l'original dont elle est issue.

How to Obtain a Certified/Notarized True Copy?

The certification/notarization of a true copy of a document is the material recognition of the perfect accuracy of a copy in relation to the original document from which it was made (see also: What is Signature Certification?). It is important to note that this certification does not attest to the legal validity of the content of the certified document but simply verifies the conformity between the original document and its copy.

To certify the conformity of a copy of an original document, the notary must verify the originality of the document to be copied and then personally make the copy of this original document to ensure it is an exact reproduction.

In accordance with these requirements, the individual seeking a certified true copy must present the original document to the notary (either in person, by mail, or through a representative). Any type of original document is generally accepted. However, copies of documents cannot be certified/notarized as true copies; only original documents are eligible.

After verifying the originality of the document to be copied, the notary affixes a certification notation on the copy of the document, then signs and stamps it with his/her official seal. The certification process typically only takes a few minutes (and it can be completed without the requester being present). To expedite the certification process, the requester is asked to send a copy of the original document and a copy of their ID in advance.

For businesses and professionals (lawyers, banks, insurance companies, multinational corporations, etc.) who are unable to visit our office and/or for transactions requiring one or more certified/notarized copies during business meetings, a notary from the firm can travel to perform the necessary certifications.

The notarial office Chassaint & Cerclé Notaires in Paris (France) assists individuals and professionals in completing the necessary steps to obtain certified/notarized true copies of documents. For more information, click here.
