Apostille of Certified / Notarized Document

The purpose of the apostille is to verify the authenticity of the origin of a document or the signature of the person who issued it (notably notaries).

The apostille is only valid in certain countries. For countries that do not recognize it, the document must be legalized (see Légalisation de document).

Only documents issued by a French public authority or certified / notarized by a French public authority (as a public notary) intended for use abroad can be apostilled.

Apostilles for Professionals

For businesses and professionals who cannot come to our offices and/or for operations requiring one or more apostilles following a business meeting, a staff member from the office can travel to perform the necessary procedures.

Signing or Obtaining the Document to Apostille

A notary from the office affixes their signature and seal on the document to be apostilled or obtains the original of the document to be apostilled (for example, a K-bis extract).

Depositing the Apostille on the Document

Our office requests the competent Court of Appeal to obtain the apostille on the relevant documents. This procedure may take one to several days depending on the number of documents to apostille.

Transmission of the Apostilled Document

Once the apostille is deposited, we will hand over or send the apostilled documents to you by post. A digital copy of this document will also be sent to you by email.
